Pandemic Modular Student Residence
Residential
Personal Project
Waterfront, Toronto
May 2021
The idea of this project came to life when COVID-19 first hit Toronto city. By the time, public areas like universities were shut down and everyone was encouraged to stay at home. I found myself depressed and emotional a couple of days after the lockdown. I am not an optimistic person and it turns out this time I was right. Facetime, …social media make me more depressed because they are nothing like real communication. It’s not like I need to talk to someone but I suddenly realized what much I hate staying in my tiny room, looking out from the same window every day. I want to stay in a communal space where people can see other community members as well as greenery. So this project is not only about COVID, it's more about loneliness.
